Visual Literacy

Medium: Visual literacy
Year:

Movement/Vocabulary Description – (50-75 words):
The visual literacy movement began when teachers and educators noticed a change in students after television arrived.  The IQ scored of young children rose greatly yet the number of students having trouble learning to read and write were decreasing.  The meaning of visual literacy is the ability to understand and express your-self in terms of visual material and to relate to visual meaning beyond the images themselves.

Personal Reaction – (50 – 75 words):
It is very sad how much television can affect people. Especially for young children.  This relates to photography because we have to see images and be able to comprehend them with meaning.  Or if there is a message in our photography we want others to be able to comprehend that message.
